Jean-Christophe Mau had already enjoyed taking up the ambitious challenge of improving quality on a wine estate before he took over at this property, with its 28 hectares of vines in the heart of Pessac-Léognan. For Jean-Christophe, ‘90% of a vintage’s quality is achieved in the vines’, and for 6 years now he has successfully met the challenge of getting the very best out of the Graves terroir, with the wines of Château Brown.

With the aim of conducting precise work in the vineyard and achieving perfectly controlled yields and thus optimum grape ripeness, the team at Brown decided to harvest the grapes by hand, using small trays, and to vinify the wines plot by plot.
